Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works cooperatively with MD's, other PA's/NP's, RN's and other allied health personnel. Responsibilities also include giving direction to various allied health staff. Tasks may include: comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies, and offering counseling and education to meet patient needs.

Basic Qualifications:

For Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current RN license, Advanced Practice Certificate, and Prescribing and Dispensing Certificate in Arizona. Certification as nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization. RNFA is NOT required for this position.

For Physician Assistant: Graduation from a university program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education (ARCE) for the Physician Assistant. Must be certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Must have Arizona licensure as a Physician Assistant under the supervision of a Mayo Clinic physician upon hire.

Other Qualifications:

Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills. -Demonstrated leadership ability. -Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs. -Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. -Two to five years of clinical experience preferred. -Primary care, acute care, and/or surgical experience preferred. -Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.

License or Certification:

For Both Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants: Maintains prescribing and dispensing privileges in Arizona. Must provide DEA certificate upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from the start date. Maintains BLS and ACLS competencies.

Schedule Details: Nephrology NP/PA- Is a Tier 1 position- covering outpatient Nephrology clinic only- no on call and no inpatient coverage. Typical outpatient clinic hours- M-F, 8-5pm etc. at the MCSB.

Weekend Schedule: NA

Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $3,399.20 per pay period, based on a full-time position.
