Ground Transport Dispatcher - Emergency Medical Services-- Orlando -- Per Diem

Florida Hospital seeks to hire an EMS Ground & Air Transport Dispatchers who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. Department Profile:

The EMS department is a hospital-based State of Florida approved ambulance provider. EMS provides intra-facility emergent and non-emergent transport for the patients of Florida Hospital's seven campuses within a 2800 square mile tri-county area. The EMS' department operates critical care, advance and basic life support, and specialty transport ambulances. EMS mission is to extend the healing ministry of Christ ensuring continuity of patient care by providing the highest level of care to patients requiring medical transport within the Florida Hospital system.

Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time: Days, 3/12s, 6am - 6pm

Job Summary:

Under general supervision the Ground and Air Transport Dispatchers are responsible for the coordination of transfers into and within the Florida Hospital system of critically ill patients by air and by ground.

Works in the RightCAD system, documenting time stamped events of the transfer process.

Works jointly with the Shift Supervisor and/or the ETC/Flight RN to make decisions of triage, outsourcing and resolution of transfer issues.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required:

Telephone and radio communication skills

Basic computer skills

Graduate of EMT program with prior dispatch experience, OR

Graduate of Paramedic program

3-5 years pre-hosp or ED experience

SunPort, Cerner, RightCAD and NICE systems, GPS tracking ( Preferred )

Associate's Degree in health care related field ( Preferred )

Dispatch or transfer center experience ( Preferred )

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Current, active license in State of Florida as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or a Paramedic.

E010 - Ground Dispatch:

Valid Class "E" Florida Driver License.

CEVO/EVOC (Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator/Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) certification.

NAACS (National Association Air Medical Communication Specialist) ( Preferred )

NHTSA National Standard Curriculum for EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) ( Preferred )

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates, through behavior, Florida Hospital's core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork

Communicates appropriate and accurate information, proficiently and professionally, through radio and telephone communications on the recorded line.

Completes the RightCAD log with patient demographics and time stamped events of the transfer process for accuracy of department STATS.

Ensures documentation is complete containing accurate information and is in compliance with department protocols.

Relays patient updates to supervisors, medical control, transport teams, sending and receiving facilities, and the accepting physician, of estimated arrival time as per protocols.

E010 - Ground Dispatch:

Follows dispatch standard operating protocols and GPS tracking.

Initiates chain of command in notification of incidents.

Notifies the ground crews of location of the patient, equipment needed and weight.

Serves as driver for specialty teams when additional trucks are needed.

Proficiently utilizes systems/equipment in the department to include but not limited to the radios, SunPort, Cerner, Right Cad and NICE recording systems, and GPS tracking.
