We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and caring Kids Group Skills Education Instructors who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You'll teach one, or possibly more, of the following subjects: Arts and Crafts, Music, Spanish Immersion and School Skills. A typical day for an Instructor could include:
Interacting with parents and their children to build lasting relationships
Showing kids how to fingerpaint a self-portrait
Explaining the difference between blues and jazz music
Demonstrating how to greet each other in Spanish
Helping kids enhance their school skills and life skills
Promoting Kids Academy programs to prospective members
Job Description
As a Kids Group Skills Education Instructor, you'll be in charge of leading classes for children between 3 and 11 years of age, and helping them develop valuable skills through age-appropriate activities and games. Along with other Instructors, you'll be responsible for providing a fun, engaging, enriching and safe environment for our Life Time Junior Members. Using our signature class format as a foundation, you'll get to add your own creative flair to make sure daily activities are energizing, constructive and fun.
Duties & Responsibilities
Arriving 15 minutes beforehand to prepare for class
Constructing a weekly or monthly lesson plan or equivalent while following our signature format
Creating and implementing different activities relevant to program
Playing educational games
Cleaning up after each class
Be available to assist with Kids Activities optional programming (Camps, Parents Night Out, Birthday Parties)
Promote all Kids Activities programming
Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse relating to youth
High School Diploma or GED
College degree or Continuing Education preferred
Minimum of six months to one year of teaching children ages 3 -- 11 in similar programs or activities
For Spanish Instructor applicants, native or bilingual speakers are preferred
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations
Program specific certification or education preferred
For Instructors working with children under the age of 6, certification or equivalent education experience in Early Childhood Development preferred
Life Time University certification in relevant skill required after hire
First Aid certification required within the first 60 days of hire
Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED certification required within the first 60 days of hire
Other Requirements
At Life Time, the safety of our Junior Members is a top priority. Applicants must complete all state or federal requirements prior to their first day of directly working with children or within another specified timeframe. Requirements vary by state and may include, but are not limited to:
Physical
Tuberculosis test
All required vaccinations (or signed exemption)
Fingerprints taken by a local police department for a background check
Background checks required by state specific child care licensing laws in addition to a Life Time background check
Continuing education courses for continued employment in working with children
All requirements must be completed at the cost of the applicant, unless prohibited by law.
