Optum payer consulting is looking to expand their offerings within their Network and Population Health pillar. The group is planning to hire experienced provider network resources to support the expected growth of consulting-related opportunities around provider network and payment innovation.  This will support strategy, contracting, negotiation and operational assessments of provider network organizations.  Between projects, it's expected that this resource will also support internal development of offerings and external business development efforts.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Business Development (0% - 25% Time Allocation):

Support leads, pursuits, and proposals
Participate in business development-related discussions with clients as a network management subject matter expert
Support the development of new Network & Population Health (NPH) consulting solutions that will be brought to market, leveraging research and internal resources
Effectively build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients
Support the identification of opportunities for sales and business development collaboration with other Optum business segments
Program Delivery and Oversight (75 - 100% Time Allocation):

Responsibility for execution of Network Management and Payment Innovation (NPI) large scale program execution. Large scale programs are defined as high cost, high complexity and/or high risk
Lead NPI-related work streams on larger and broader projects
Act as network subject matter expert, as required
Support the management of resources within projects, as necessary
Support program communication plan and execution, as necessary
Require that quality assurance methods are implemented within the program
Provide status updates and review of programs to senior leadership
Provide coaching and mentoring of project team with the goal of developing and retaining talent within the organization

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Expertise in a number of network related areas, including network negotiation and contracting, provider relations, provider data management and/or overall network management
2+ years network management experience on value based agreements (ACO, PCMH, bundled payments, risk sharing arrangements
5+ years enterprise project management experience
8+ years healthcare background with extensive healthcare operations knowledge and experience specifically in network management and contracting
Experience leading a team of direct reports
Ability to travel up to 80% 
Preferred Qualifications:

MBA or other related degrees
3+ years working in a Professional Consulting Organization
Experience developing new business and identifying add-on work
Experience writing and executing business plans for new consulting solutions
Candidates located near Minneapolis, MN - but location is flexible
