Technology Architect / Principal Engineer

Position Overview:
Technology Architect is to drive architecture strategies and technologies including cloud computing technologies for BE Architecture group of Building Efficiency group. This Architect works across Global IT teams to increase organizational understanding of technology and Cloud platforms and what it means for applications within Building Efficiency group. The Architect will provide guidance to enable solution delivery teams to more quickly understand demand and choose architecturally sound solutions from new or existing patterns. This role will champion industry practices, enterprise architecture strategies, and engineering standards for ensuring successful technology solutions.
The Architect brings experience in analyzing and recommending cloud-based and related solutions to successfully meet emerging business requirements. The person in this position must demonstrate proven skills in developing integration and implementation strategies for technology solutions. Have successful implementations in support of such technologies and cloud computing within a large organization at enterprise level.
Key responsibilities to include:
Collaborate with BU and Corp Enterprise Architecture on recommendations regarding middleware, integration and Cloud technologies and then drive implementable adoption strategies and plans.
Develop Technology Roadmap and related solutions.
Ability to interpret emerging industry offerings into implementable business unit objectives. Assess viability and architectural fit of technology provider product roadmaps.
Assess Cloud providers capabilities to deliver services according to objectives.
Compose solution reference architectures for leveraging right technologies and orchestration tools throughout business unit.
Provide consistent pattern frameworks for technology experts to leverage in articulating their reference architectures.
Develop, maintain and provide technical expertise in order to transfer knowledge and ensure proper adoption of technology standards.
Assess the compatibility and integration of products proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technology segments.
Monitor standards/policy compliance and tools to identify or measure non-compliance and communicate standards compliance results to stakeholders to facilitate resolution and address issues with adherence to standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience.

At least 10+ years in Information Technology, with 5 years in Cloud, technology architecture, and/or solution delivery, actively engaged in design, and technical leadership

System Design: Knowledge of system design procedures and ability to translate functional business requirements into architectural processes to meet clients' needs that also meets all relevant company standards.

Technology Architecting: Ability to holistically conceptualize and model the use of evolving technologies across a broad set of business applications to translate business strategies and requirements into technical strategies and to apply the architecture models to create achievable system designs for business solutions.

IT Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the key directional trends and emerging technologies in Cloud computing. Includes knowledge of the key vendors, their strategic and tactical plans, and internal/external advisory services.

Strong verbal communications demonstrating ability to deliver to all levels of staff and management.
