BASIC PURPOSE: Disseminate information related to tax laws and communicate it with hotel personnel and accounting managers on compliance to avoid future liability.  

Ensure compliance with state and local sales; and use tax reporting requirements and laws.  This person must be driven in getting the job done accurately and timely.

ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE:  

1.  Perform tax return compliance function;

2.  Provide support to tax audit function;

3. Provide support to tax research function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.  Prepare State and Local Sales and Use tax returns. 

2.  Support audit function including: compiling documentation from various sources and locations, copying, and forwarding to Auditors. 

3. Train newly acquired hotels on Sales Tax Reconciliation procedures 

4. Research notices of assessment and handle verbal and written communication with taxing authorities. 

5. Compile needed information for completion of Special Projects as determined by management 

6.  Review exemption back-up (received from hotels) for to ensure compliance 

OTHER FUNCTIONS: 

1. Scan and upload Tax Returns and Exemption back-up to the online Document Retention System.

2. Administrative duties including making copies of the Tax Returns

Knowledge and Skills:

Education: BS in Business, Accounting or Finance and/or

Experience: Two years of accounting/tax experience
