SUMMARY

Time Warner Cable News, Central Texas’ only 24-hour newsroom is looking for a trailblazer to help it expand its award-winning, community-focused television and online journalism into the San Antonio news market. Time Warner Cable News – Austin has been on the air since September 1999 with the operation of a news center that employees nearly 100 journalists and operations staff.

Due to our success in Austin/Central Texas and 16 other television news markets across the country, we believe it is time to establish Time Warner Cable News – San Antonio, offering that city 70 miles south of Austin our brand of hyper-local news, weather and sports coverage.

We are looking for a videojournalist who will live and work out of San Antonio, while helping us establish a downtown news bureau there linked directly to the newsroom in Austin. This successful multimedia journalism candidate will be responsible for developing and producing news stories by investigating, interviewing, shooting, writing, editing, producing and reporting on a daily basis. This reporter must be a self-starter who can work with little direct supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Reports, shoots, writes and edits news stories within assigned deadlines. Stories should be compelling, factually correct, creative, and written in a clear, concise conversational manner.
Will work primarily alone to report and shoot stories and provide live reports.
Combines video, audio, and graphics to effectively tell the story.
Gathers information for stories, using beat sources, contacts and leads.
Enterprises daily story ideas, and works assigned beats.
Delivers reports, including live reports with the assistance of a photojournalist, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance, and voice quality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required with at least one year reporting/shooting experience.
Two years preferred.
Strong on-camera skills with the ability to read narration effectively and ability to work under time pressure deadlines and in high-stress situations.
Excellent writing and interpersonal skills a must.
Ability to lift and carrying up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work inside and outside throughout the year in extreme weather conditions.
Must be flexible to work weekends, evenings, and holidays when required.
Must have a valid Driver ' s License and good driving record.
On-call 24/7 and must carry a station-provided cell phone.
