Under general supervision, in collaboration with the Medical Director and Supervisor, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the operational management of the Sleep Lab services.

Essential Functions:

* Assures comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with sleep disorders including in-lab and out of- lab sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient care, and patient education. Manages and adjusts patient schedule, as needed, to provide timely patient access for sleep studies. Functions as a patient advocate to listen, explain, answer questions and/or resolve issues. Works with other departments and outside facilities, as needed, to provide successful outcomes for the patient.

* Develops, reviews, maintains, updates, and implements Sleep Lab policy and procedure manual in accordance with established policies, procedures, laws, regulations, national standards and Medical Director guidance. Leads in accreditation/reaccreditation application and preparation for AASM site visits and reviews. Assures that Sleep Lab meets requirement criteria.

* Supports, encourages, develops, and oversees Sleep Lab personnel; promotes teamwork and quality care and service for patients. Provides educational updates/inservices and skills competencies for staff. Creates, implements and manages staff schedules including distribution/posting and revisions. Coordinates staff coverage for all shifts.

* Maintains equipment in proper working order; troubleshoots problems; consults with Biomed and/or vendor, as needed. Monitors supply inventory. Submits orders for equipment and supplies.

* Monitors and evaluates data. Oversees data entry and maintenance of Sleep Lab database and creates reports as needed. Collaborates with Medical Director to monitor the quality of care and service provided and to conduct quality improvement efforts as necessary. Interprets and applies American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and other required national accrediting agencies, and policies to support compliance.

* Serves as a Sleep Lab liaison and resource for patients, staff, physicians, administration, other departments, and community entities. Organizes meetings and develops materials and handouts, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

* Minimum three (3) years of polysomnography or related experience.

Education

* Associate's degree in respiratory therapy or other allied health sciences; or successful completion of a polysomnography program.

License, Certification, Registration

* Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).

* Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

* Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Additional Requirements:

* Working knowledge of polysomnographic data acquisition systems and non-invasive positive airway pressure treatment modalities.

* Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheet PC applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in applying for and obtaining American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) sleep laboratory accreditation.

* Ability to apply problem solving skills and coordinate and complete multiple projects / tasks.

* Ability to organize information.

* Comprehensive knowledge of polysomnographic technology principles, equipment, and operations.

* Ability to score overnight sleep studies, conduct ambulatory sleep studies, and/or conduct multiple sleep latency tests and maintenance of wakefulness tests.

* Knowledge of Kaiser system.
