The Surgical Tech will be a person prepared in technical surgical skills who actively participates in the care of the surgical patient. Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, attends to the patient's direct care needs and performs tasks as delegated by the R.N. Works in a partnership with a Registered Nurse does not assume an independent assignment. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives in collaboration with other health team members.

1. High School diploma or equivalent required

2. Was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1, 2009 or

Is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service

3. Completion of a surgical technologist program with certification exam eligibility - certification preferred.

4. One year surgical technology experience preferred.

5. Current BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment
