Lead Carpenter / Foreman (Home Remodeling) - Part-time

WHAT IS A LEAD CARPENTER / FOREMAN?:

A lead carpenter / foreman is responsible for the following:
* Project completion & customer satisfaction
* Material take-offs / receiving & confirming material deliveries
* Jobsite supervision (including protection, cleanliness, and safety)
* Quality of carpentry and other subcontract labor
* Supervising and scheduling subcontractors, inspections, paperwork
* Planning, coordinating, & supervising the work of a team of skilled workers
WHAT DO YOU NEED AS QUALIFICATIONS?

Qualities / Skills
* A positive attitude and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times is A MUST!
* Self-motivated to work independently and a passion for not wasting time
* Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
* Knowledge of custom residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, and quality / cost control
* Knowledge of state and local building codes, orders, ordinances, and safety / health regulations and practices pertinent to the construction industry
* Knowledge of methods and procedures used in planning and estimating job projects
* Basic knowledge of plumbing & electrical systems
Education/Experience
* Graduation from high school or its equivalent
* Minimum of FIVE (5) years full-time, paid journey-level experience in the carpentry trade
* Experience in a lead capacity is PREFERRED
WHAT ARE THE JOB DUTIES / REQUIREMENTS?:
* Schedules and oversees the work of a small group of journey-level workers and other assigned staff performing construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair of building components and structures such as floors, ceilings, roofs, stairways, moldings, furniture, doors, window frames, shelves, partitions, and related building components made of wood and other building materials
* Determines most efficient work procedures and techniques for assigned staff to ensure timely completion according to project schedules, and makes sure that safety standards and procedures are followed at all times
* Constructs, maintains, alters, and repairs building components and structures made of wood and other building materials
* Saws, fits, and erects exterior and interior trim
* Installs locks and other building hardware
* Assembles and works from scaffolds
* Maintains carpentry power and hand tools and equipment to ensure their safe and efficient operation
* Estimates job costs and prepares material lists and job records
* Provides company owner with technical input on carpentry work concerning planned construction and work projects in progress
* Assists in the inspection of facilities for maintenance and safety problems related to building components and structures made of wood and other building materials
* Assists in the inspection of carpentry work performed by outside contractors
* Assists in developing job specifications, diagrams, and blueprints related to carpentry work
* Provides training, as needed, to personnel assigned to project
* May schedule and oversee the work of other building trade workers assigned to project
* Performs related duties as assigned
* Must be able to work 8-12 hour days and expect to spend 99% of time at assigned job sites
* A valid driverÃ?Æ'Ã+aEURTMÃ?aEUR?Ã,¢Ã?Æ'Ã,¢Ã?¢âaEUR? Ã...¡Ã?aEUR?Ã, Ã?Æ'Ã,¢Ã?¢âaEUR? Ã...Â3/4Ã?aEUR?Ã,¢s license and driving is required; however, a company vehicle will bee available for most jobs
* A current model iPhone or Android smartphone is suggested for communication with owner, office, and team of workers / subcontractors
* Familiarity with QuickBooks Contractor 2015 software is a PLUS!
