Kohl's is currently hiring a POS Specialist!

Position Summary:

Responsible for greeting customers and ensuring that customers’ purchases are processed accurately and efficiently. Reinforces Point-of-Sale customer service standards and ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures on handling Point-of-Sale operations. Resolves customers’ issues and may direct workflow to POS Associates. Assists in training new store Associates. Responsible for ensuring that credit standards are communicated and credit goals are achieved.

Primary Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • "Smile and Says Hi!” Contributes to customer oriented atmosphere within store by smiling and saying hi to all customers and Associates encountered. Encourages others to smile and say hi.
  • Adheres to the “Yes We Can” policy and efficiently resolves customer’s questions and requests. Supports fellow Associates through Yes We Can actions and behaviors.
  • Uses the 5 step “GREAT” program while interacting with customers: Greets Customer, Requests Credit, Explains Email, Asks to complete the Survey and Thanks the Customer.
  • Assists customers in a friendly, courteous manner. Acknowledges all customers throughout the store. Effectively responds to questions and requests from customers.
  • Accurately and efficiently processes customers’ transactions. Maintains Company “2-in-a-line” standard and calls assistance as needed. Bags customers’ purchases carefully and thanks customers for shopping at Kohl’s.
  • Solicits, opens and activates Kohl’s Charge applications in accordance with Company standards and motivates others to do the same.
  • Recognizes MVC (most-valued customers) customers in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Solicits customer service survey participation and Kohl’s e-mail participation.

Training and Supervision:

  • Demonstrates leadership through the “Yes We Can” policy by efficiently resolving customers’ problems regarding purchase transactions.
  • Ensures that the Company’s “2-in-a-line” standard is maintained by all POS Associates. Reinforces customer service standards in processing transactions. Maintains high level of presence on floor to assist POS Associates.
  • May assist in training new POS Associates and Sales Associate on Point-of-Sale operations and customer service standards.
  • Ensures credit standards are communicated and motivates Associates to achieve credit goals.
  • Maintains communication binder and ensures all POS Associates read and understand monthly POS touchbases.
  • Informs POS Associates on changes in policies and procedures and system changes at Point-ofSale.

Operations:

  • Utilizes and adheres to merchandise presentation standards in regards to the 5 Basics: strikepoints, signing, sizing, clearance and clean store.
  • Promptly alerts management of POS equipment and POS systems problems for correction.
  • Tracks credit goals and updates daily to ensure credit solicitation throughout the store.
  • Authorizes bank checks and void transactions within Company guidelines.
  • Makes change and performs cash pick-ups from registers. Fills and maintains on-hand supplies of receipts, bags, application brochures, etc.
  • Opens and closes registers and records appropriate information on balance sheets to prevent cash losses.
  • Notifies management of supply needs.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of register areas and returns non-purchased merchandise to appropriate location.
  • Assists with recovery, fitting rooms, housekeeping duties associated with the front end, preparation and taking of inventory and stock room organization.
  • Ensures POS endcaps are recovered and replenished in accordance with merchandising directives and standards.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned. Examples may include, but are not limited to, assisting customers at the Customer Service Desk; conducting additional training programs; greeting customers at assigned stations; hanging, folding, ticketing or straightening merchandise; assisting with recovery in departments; assisting in housekeeping duties; assisting in the preparation and taking of inventory and assisting in stockroom organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in retail, customer service or other work environment involving contact with the public.
  • Prior supervisory experience in one of the above environments.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis. Greater than 50 pounds = 1 Associate per 50 pounds.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of his/her working time standing or moving about register areas and around the store. Physical activities include holding a scanning gun, keying and processing register transactions; lifting and bagging merchandise; bending, stooping and reaching on a frequent basis.
  • Adherence to Company policy and procedures is required.
  • Regular attendance is required.
