About the Opportunity:
The primary duties of the Health Services Executive Fellow include active participation in projects, leadership work teams, planning, management, operational activities and strategic initiatives in the areas of administration, human resources and employee relations, quality care management, information systems, physical plant and environmental operations, safety, food services, marketing, legal and regulatory compliance, finance, budgets, long-term care clinical disciplines.
Upon successful completion of Executive Fellow Program, the incumbent will be prepared to assume an administrative leadership position.
The incumbent will be required to pass a national and state licensure exam.
Relocation at the completion of the program is required.
Essential Functions:
Participates with Nursing Center leadership team by providing recommendations and consultation in managing the financial and operational activities of the Nursing Center.
Participates with Nursing Center leadership team by implementing policies and procedures as necessary.
Assists the Nursing Center leadership team with planning long and short term business and quality of care objectives.
Assists the Executive Director/Administrator with liaison duties between the Nursing Center and the Medical Director and referring physicians.
Assists Nursing Center leadership team with preparation of the annual budget.
Participates in the coordination of operational activities of the Nursing Center to assist residents and their families with personal, social or environmental needs.
Assists with the supervision of the business affairs of the Nursing Center to ensure that funds are collected and expended to the best possible advantage.
Participates in business development/marketing activities of the Nursing Centers services to enable the Nursing Center to respond to communitys needs for quality long-term care services.
Participates in the supervision and training of management and staff and assists in establishing departmental/Nursing Center philosophy and objectives, determining staffing needs and standards of productivity and in establishing and enforcing human resources policies and procedures, wage administration, and Equal Employment Opportunity obligations in compliance with federal, state and local codes, regulations and ordinances.
Assists with investigation and resolution of employee and patient/family complaints.
Participates in Nursing Center leadership team meetings, care planning meetings and other operational meetings and training, providing consultation and advice.
Participates in the management of physical plant maintenance and environmental services to ensure safe and effective operation.
Assists with compliance, survey and audit activities conducted by internal compliance and risk management, regional/district clinical staff and regulatory agencies.
Participates in management and oversight activities related to the maintenance of Nursing Center licensing and quality patient care through the establishment of performance improvement monitoring programs and standards.
Participates in Administrator On-Call rotation.
Reviews and approves expense reports for direct reports of Executive Director/Administrator.
Conducts job duties in accordance with the Companys Code of Business Conduct , the Employee Handbook, applicable state and federal laws and regulations and professional standards.
Participates with various levels of support staff, clinical staff, physicians, and administration on various projects.
Travels to different Nursing Centers and corporate locations.
Successfully completes state licensure exam.
Relocation required at the completion of the Executive Fellow Program.
Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the Nursing Center.
Masters Degree in a health related field, Business or Public Administration and Bachelors degree in health related field, Business or Public Administration in combination with the following experience:
1 year(s) healthcare experience required. Nursing center experience strongly preferred.
1 year(s) supervisory/management experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to gain knowledge of varied rules and regulations governing long term care operations and reimbursements.
Knowledge of cost reporting, profit and loss and budget compliance.
Ability to work with a large staff and diverse resident/family population.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
Ability to organize and prioritize.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
Excellent judgment and ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
