PRIMARY PURPOSE: (Position Summary)
The Patient Service Representative is the department's representative to patients and the public at large. Thus, the incumbent must possess exceptional public relations/customer service skills. The individual is responsible for scheduling patient hospital admissions and procedures, outpatient clinic and outreach clinic appointments. Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's degree or comparable experience preferred
Knowledge:
Extensive understanding of managed care, Medi-Cal, and Medicare eligibility, authorization and billing requirements is critical
Knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software is required
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, Access or similar programs
Knowledge of IDX or similar medical management systems is required
Experience with IDX DBMS experience is highly desired
This position requires 1-2 years experience as a phone operator/scheduling outpatient clinic
Bilingual English-Spanish is highly preferred
Skills and Abilities :
Must have excellent communication, customer service and organization skills
Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decision
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years in a medical office setting, preferably in a specialty practice
