Job Description

An exciting new opportunity to join a team of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners awaits you in Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic Health System! Based in Northwest Wisconsin, where annual patient volumes are continuously rising, you'll have the opportunity to lead a team of healthcare professionals utilizing your well-developed procedural skills in handling critical cases. Orientation will be extensive and is held in Eau Claire at our Level II trauma center. A primary site will be assigned at a critical access hospital, within our region, at the completion of orientation. Staffing shifts is expected in our critical access hospitals in Barron, Bloomer, Osseo and Menomonie as well as in our Level II trauma center in Eau Claire dependent on business needs. Our facilities offer a wide range of services including 24-hour emergency medical care, urgent care, same-day surgery, women's health, advanced diagnostic technology, cardiac and pulmonary rehab, as well as occupational and physical therapy. Technologically advanced resources make it possible to practice state-of-the-art medicine in a vacation-like setting. With no call, 12 hour shifts, and ample input in schedule-setting, this position offers plenty of work-life balance.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION: Our communities in Barron, Bloomer, Eau Claire, Menomonie and Osseo are a quick 90 minutes outside the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. The area is promoted as a prime recreational area for tourists and locals year round and is a friendly place surrounded by rolling countryside, crystal-clear lakes, stately forests, abundant wildlife, and endless array of flowers. Downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ATVing, sledding, and ice skating fill the winters and give way to water skiing, swimming, boating, running, hiking, biking and golfing in the summer months. The area offers affordable housing, top notch schools, and crime rates well below the national average.

Basic Qualifications:

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant degree program. Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Basic Studies Course certified preferred. 2 years of Emergency Department experience or equivalent preferred. Experience in Urgent Care, General Medicine or Family Practice preferred. Certification in Emergency Medicine, preferred.

Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner degree program. Must complete100 hours of Continuing Medical Education, (CME), every two years. 2 years of Emergency Department experience or equivalent preferred. Experience in Urgent Care, General Medicine or Family Practice preferred. Certification in Emergency Medicine, preferred.

Other Qualifications:

Unrestricted prescriptive authority in Wisconsin, (Wisconsin Board of Medical Examiners and DEA). Eligible for privileges at Mayo Clinic Health System sites in Northwest Wisconsin.

License or Certification:

Nurse Practitioner: Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license. Current Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber certificate. Current National certification (e.g. ANCC or AANP) as a Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant: Current BLS. Current Wisconsin Physician Assistant License -Current NCCPA certification. Must successfully complete NCCPA recertification exam . Must complete 100 hours of Continuing Medical Education, (CME), every two years. Current DEA License. Current ACLS. Current CALS, (or within 1 year of hire). Current ATLS auditor course, (or within 1 year of hire). Current PALS, (or within 1 year of hire). Advanced Airway Management Course (or within one year of hire). Procedural Sedation/Rapid Sequence Intubation, (or within one year of hire). NRP preferred. TNCC preferred. ACLS-EP preferred. Combat Casualty Care Course, (C-4), preferred.

Schedule Details: 12 hour shifts

As a regional provider, will be based at a facilty, but will have responsibility for covering 5 hospitals within region.

Weekend Schedule: Varied, alternating

Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $3,993 based on a full-time position.
