Job Description

Overview: Gap Inc. is a leading global specialty retailer offering clothing, accessories, and personal care products for men, women, children, and babies under the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta and Intermix brands. Outbound Transportation is responsible for managing the on-time and complete delivery of freight from our domestic vendors into our Distribution Centers and from our Distribution Centers to our stores. Our Freight Claims teams is responsible for filing claims against our providers for any freight that does not get delivered to our stores. Our core transportation team is located in Northern Kentucky.

Summary: The position is responsible to gather data, research, file, resolve and recover dollars for freight claims with external service providers. Work closely with external service providers (especially the store delivery providers). Develop strong relationships with the internal operational teams that are responsible for each of the carrier relationships as well as with the Loss Prevention and Inventory Control organizations. Report monthly results and open claim progress. Efficiently process research requests and attain department goals for recovery and aging.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research cartons from DC to Store to determine if the cartons are delivered or need to be claimed.
  • Research Pending Exception Supply cartons.
  • Create reports to show aging of cartons from Undelivered status to Final Claim for the US, Canada and Europe.
  • Run Carton Matching queries for US, Canada and Europe.
  • Update Europe currency conversion rates.
  • Provide research and /or data on deliveries for Inventory Control and Loss Prevention.
  • Process deduction of claims thru Gap 3rd party Freight Payment Company.
  • Process payment of claims.
  • Request proof of delivery / Delivery Receipts from stores for Providers, Loss Prevention, Inventory Control or Claims research.
  • Send pre-deduction notifications to Party Providers.


Qualification

1) Competencies:

  • Knowledge of shipping and/or receiving operations at DCs and/or stores preferred
  • Clerical and operations experience (Shipping and Receiving experience) preferred
  • Transportation or carrier management experience preferred
  • Excellent Customer Service skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Professional Phone Presence
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills
  • Strong Problem-Solving, Organizational, Planning, Conflict Resolution, Analytical skills, Decision Making
  • Ability to work under pressure with high sense of urgency and manage multiple priorities

  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) required

2) Minimum experience:

  • 2 years professional experience in Logistics, Retail, Call Center, Customer Service or equivalent education


3) Minimum educational level:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent retail, customer service, and/or logistics experience preferred


4) Physical Requirements:

  • Minimal Travel Required
  • Flexible to work non-traditional hours (shift, weekend, and holidays) to support 24x7 operations
  • Flexible to adjust hours/schedule on short-notice (same day/weekend) to support unplanned issue resolution
