Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting manufacturing processes to improve and correct quality issues. Additionally, the position will be responsible for customer interface on quality topics.
Core Responsibilities
- Work with manufacturing engineers to improve process capabilities
- Develop and implement SPC and other statistical tools in the manufacturing area
- Development of control plans, inspection instructions, PFMEA's and process flow diagrams.
- Assist in APQP, PPAP submittals.
- Develop, coordinate and track the implementation of 8D reports.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities (i.e. Scrap Reduction, Cost Reduction, Improved Efficiencies, etc.)
- Develop, conduct and/or coordinate quality related training programs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years working experience in a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with extensive knowledge in all automotive quality management tools and standards (APQP, AIAG Requirements, Six Sigma, ISO / TS 16949, Statistics, SPC and Capability Indices)
- Must have experience working in an automotive environment
- Strong working knowledge of Process Flow Charts, FMEA's, and Control Plans
- Experience with 8D problem solving techniques (Is/Is not, Ishikawa diagram, 5 Why) including the use of D.O.E.
