Job Description

Position Objective:

This position is responsible for creating the fun, energetic and inviting environment of the Cosmetics & Fragrance department, building rapport with customers, consulting with customers on their needs and recommending product solutions that help customers look and feel their best. This position employs strong selling techniques and deep product knowledge to appeal to each customer's unique style and needs to create a positive customer experience and a loyal customer base.

Primary Responsibilities:

Employs strong selling techniques

• Engages customers in conversations to determine Beauty needs, style and preferences
• Encourages customers to explore products through testing and sampling
• Recommends product solutions that help customers look and feel their best
• Adapts product recommendations as customers share more information
• Describes the increased benefit of using multiple products together
• Introduces customers to new products that compliment their Beauty regimen

Initiates and leads 1-on-1 customer consultations

• Applies products directly on customer
• Educates the customer on application techniques and product features
• Reinforces customer's selections by reviewing the use and benefits of products chosen

Applies advanced product knowledge

• Serves as a consultative expert in all product lines
• Shares product knowledge in an engaging way to inform customer choice
• Links multiple products based on desired attributes and results
• Proactively seeks out communication on new products and trends to keep knowledge current

Supports operations

• Maintains department cleanliness and hygiene standards
• Stocks and replenishes inventory to support Company in-stock goals
• Follows Company merchandise presentation directives and standards
• Follows Company best practices and participates in Company programs (i.e. 5 Basics, communication, tester replenishment, damages, defectives, even exchanges, store shortage action plans)
• Distributes samples and gratis in accordance with Company policy

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis
• Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing or moving about the department within the store. Physical activities include bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in retail, sales or cosmetics sales
• Prior experience interacting with customers in a consultative capacity
