About this job

Reach Your Peak at Vail Resorts. You're someone who pushes boundaries and challenges the status quo. You're brave, ambitious and passionate in everything you do. And we want you on our team. Pursue your fullest potential and never settle in the quest to deliver extraordinary guest service. Re-imagine a mountain resort experience with us. Welcome to Vail Resorts. Reach Your Peak.

For over 50 years, Afton Alps has delighted the Twin Cities’ families as one of the Midwest’s premier winter destinations. Nestled in the scenic St. Croix River Valley just outside Minneapolis and St. Paul, this sprawling resort is re-imagining the guest experience with renovated base area facilities, a powerful state-of-the-art snowmaking system and a new cutting edge terrain park.

With nearly 300 skiable acres, 50 trails, 18 lifts and 4 terrain parks, there is enough terrain to challenge experts to beginners, day or night. Afton Alps also offers an 18-hole golf course and footgolf course to be enjoyed by all levels – beginners to experts during the spring to fall season.

Accessible, affordable and fun, this big-time resort with a small-town feel has converted thousands of first-timers into lifelong skiers and riders, and now with the opportunity to take that passion to Vail Resorts’ iconic western mountains, Afton Alps is truly the place where Epic begins.

Join Afton Alps and be part of one of Vail Resort’s legendary Ski and Snowboard Schools. Part-time positions for Lift Buddies are available for the 2015-2016 Season.

The successful applicant will provide assistance to children aged 6 years and younger on safe loading, riding and unloading of chairlifts. Lift Buddies work with our children’s program instructors at the Meadows Children’s Learning Center. Lift Buddies are an integral part of Afton Alps Ski and Snowboard School and a key component of delivering exceptional and safe guest service.

The Meadows Children’s Learning Center operates on weekends and holidays so Lift Buddies must be available at these times. Depending on demand, a lift buddy will usually work one day per weekend from mid-December through mid-March with a few weekends off plus a few days during the Christmas holidays and at least one of New Year’s Day, MLK Day or President’s Day - approximately 15 to 20 days per season. The typical day will begin at 9:15 am and end at 3:30 pm with a one-hour lunch break.

In addition to providing an exceptional experience to our younger guests, we view Lift Buddies as a great training ground for people who think they might want to become instructors in the future. In order to facilitate this, Lift Buddies are encouraged to join our weekly Instructor Clinics to help develop their teaching, skiing and riding skills.
