Position Summary:

Individual contributor.
Surveillance, Trouble Shooting.
Beginner, basic technical knowledge

Essential Job Functions:

1. Executes routine and documented functions in a technical area.

2. Performs 24/7 shift-coverage network surveillance or basic triage based on fundamental technical concepts.

3. Escalate complex or undocumented issues to higher level technical resources (Sr. Technicians and Engineers).

4. Collaborates with other groups and may communicate issues or project status.

General Requirements:

1. Must possess good/excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
2. Effective written and verbal communication skills 3. Effective inter-personal and problem solving skills 4. Possess basic problem solving and critical thinking skills 5. Capability to use email, ticketing systems, web portals and technology-specific diagnostic tools.
6. Ability to read and follow documented processes and procedures.

7. Comprehension of fundamental technical concepts.

8. Becomes familiar with TWC products and services.

Systems/Tools/Devices Knowledge or Experience

Familiarity with the following systems/tools/devices:

- High Speed Data, Digital Video, VOD, Switch, and Networking (including LAN/WAN)

- Open System Interconnect (OSI) Model and Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP, EiGRP, IGRP)

- Multi System Operator (MSO) and/or Telecom technologies

- Hybrid Fiber-Coax (HFC), Customer Premise Equip (CPE) Devices used in Cable

- Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Config Protocol (DHCP) & email systems

- Element Management Systems (e.g., CISCO CTM/CTC, AlcatelSAM) and other tools like NetAnalyst.

- Inventory tools (Granite, Nakina)

- Monitoring tools (Netcool, Big Brother, HP Openview, Spectrum or Unified)

- Ticketing systems (Remedy & XMatter (aka AlarmPoint)

- Cable MSO Billing systems (ICOMS, CSG)

- Microsoft Office and Visio

Education/Certifications:
Associate ' s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred

Experience:
0-3 Years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
CCNA or JNCIP Certification a plus.

Scope of Role

Low degree of complexity. Complexity is limited to the execution of documented tasks at the direction of a supervisor. Follows established logical flows with exceptions being deferred to higher level positions.

Level of Influence/Interaction

90% non-interactive- administrative, emails, completing own work 10% interactive- team interactions and cross-group development

May Interface with:

TAC, NOCs, Regional/Dispatch Teams
Engineering, Headend, Customer Care, Tech Ops, Commercial Support

No direct or indirect financial accountability



Function-Specific Requirements -Commercial


- Ability to monitor in the Commercial Networks

- Experience with Devices populated in the NOC Monitoring Tools

- Provides service monitoring, assurance and reliability for carrier / commercial customers

- Customer driven with an understanding of MSA/SLA requirements

- Knowledge of commercial / carrier services

- Cell Tower Back-Haul or Commercial experience preferred

- Preferred experience with Juniper, Alcatel, Cisco, Adva, and JSDU equipment

- Basic understanding of Optical, TDM, Ethernet, MPLS, and IP routing

- Fundamental understanding of fault isolation and troubleshooting

- Previous monitoring or provisioning role in Engineering or Technical Operations

- Working knowledge of Maintenance, Service, and Installation

- Effective communication skills with previous event management experience

- Preferred experience with: Adva FSP NM, Spirent, JDSU QT, JDSU Centest.
