Primary Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the facilitator and clinical laboratory scientists, the laboratory assistant performs laboratory procedures in phlebotomy, cytology, pathology, microbiology, and processing. These procedures exclude any that only licensed personnel under state licensure regulations perform.
High school diploma or equivalent equivalent required
Phlebotomy certificate and CA State certification is required
1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred
Must have working knowledge of medical terminology
Must have working knowledge of basic laboratory terminology
Working knowledge of test specimen handling is required
Must have basic knowledge to trouble shoot and investigate specimen problems
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced, high volume laboratory, yet still maintaining the highest level of customer service and make the client feel at ease
