About this job

Stonington Institute began serving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are the longest continually operating, free-standing, voluntary treatment facility in New England. Our main campus is located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful rural setting. We have an additional clinical site in Groton, CT. Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment (both day and evening), ambulatory detoxification and residential substance abuse treatment for military servicemembers and their dependents. The Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.

Within a fast-paced managed care environment, the Case Manager assists with admissions, develops relationships and maintains contact with clients, client families and other service providers in order to coordinate the medical, clinical, social and related needs of clients during treatment. Develops and implements discharge plans and ancillary client services both during treatment and aftercare appointments for discharge. Conducts continuing stay authorization reviews with insurance and managed care companies, as necessary and appropriate. Works closely with the Clinician and other members of treatment team.

Dependent upon program census, up to 24 hours a week. Due to the fluctuating nature of hours, this position is not benefit-eligible.

Experience in substance abuse case management required, as is Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis however, candidates who possess education without case management experience will not be considered qualified.
