POSITION SUMMARY

At Aetna, our mission is to create a healthier world. The Aetna National Accounts, Account Executive based in San Francisco, CA develops and executes strategies that create a healthier world for our largest customers.

Fundamental Components:

The National Accounts, Account Executive based in San Francisco, has responsibility for the growth and retention of all product lines on their assigned accounts. Components of the Incentive Compensation plan in addition to Base Salary include retention, new product and programs sales on assigned accounts, and profitability. Key Components include:

Act as senior strategic business partner to constituents (producers, plan sponsors, customers) to optimize the positioning of Aetnas products and services and to attain profitability and membership objectives.

Develops and executes the renewal process ensuring appropriate margins and customer/membership retention targets are achieved.

Prepares client for renewal by explaining cost drivers of benefit plan, offers solutions to reduce costs, and delivers renewal to client and producer.

Formulates complex financial decision recommendations and presents them to management.

Assesses the competitive environment and develops sales strategies to capitalize on market opportunities and drive a competitive advantage.

Accountable for establishing and maintaining relationships with appropriate internal partners, (underwriting, plan sponsor services, medical management, etc.).

Ensure clients are kept informed of any regulatory issues and/or developing healthcare trends potentially impacting their benefits program strategy.

Works with clients to make certain that any changes resulting from this activity are appropriately addressed within the context of their business needs and employee benefits strategy.

Thoroughly analyzes and reviews reports and utilization in order to consult with customers, implement appropriate interventions and drive mutually beneficial outcomes for the customer and Aetna.

Leads finalist presentations related to either new business or growth/cross sell opportunities on designated customers.

Coordinates resources to ensure a successful case installation of new products and services.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

6-8+ Years of Industry Experience

Multi-functional Experience such as Underwriting or Large Group Sales/Service

College degree or equivalent Experience

Insurance License, as required by state law

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Insurance/Life and Health Insurance License is desired
