The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Sr. Network Engineer for our Commercial Engineering Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary
This position will be a senior member of the Time Warner Cable Commercial Engineering – Commercial Network Operations team. This team is responsible for production and operations, of the Time Warner Cable Commercial Business Services.

Time Warner Cable utilizes ALU7750, ALU7210, Cisco ASR9K, Cisco ACS Cisco 4948, Nortel Optera 3500, Nortel Classics, Nortel 5200, Ciena CoreStream and Juniper.

Essential Job Functions:
This position is responsible for the day to day network operations in 6 states for Carrier, Commercial & Cell Tower Back Haul customers. Responsibilities include:Advanced troubleshooting of all SONET, Metro Ethernet, WDM, DWDM equipmentTroubleshooting and response to network incidents and problems including after hours support via on call rotation.Working with our internal customers to relay complex Operational needs to be used in creating highly reliable and scalable networking operations.Advanced interpretation of Network alarming and impact analysisImplement and troubleshoot authentication serversTroubleshoot network communication problems as they relate to routing and switchingCorrelate detected network events to identify potential problems or root causesAssist application and system owners in troubleshooting problematic network dependent applicationsServe as a tier 3 functional escalation point for tier 2 staff membersServe as a functional escalation point for Network EngineersParticipate in projects that involve existing network infrastructure as requiredParticipate in an established on call rotationParticipate in a formal incident rapid response process for high priority incidentsCollaborate with the team to insure that an incident ' s underlying problems are managed and resolvedImplement network change in the context of incident resolution, problem management and service requestsBe aware of and follow existing network management change proceduresProvide training to Tier2 staff membersWork outside of normal business hours when required (scheduled maintenance, outage response, last minute urgent requests)Assist with network documentation tasks

Job Requirements: 7-10 years of progressive experience in Telecommmunications7-10years in enterprise network design, implementation, and operations7-10 years in SONET, WDMAt least one of the following is required: CCNA, JNCIP, ALU-SRS1, MEF-CECPExpert level network documentation skills including master skills with MS VisioStrong oral and written skillsStrong leadership skillsExpert level of familiarity in implementing and troubleshooting SONET, WDM, Metro-EthernetUnix and Linux system administration familiarityProfessional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to identify root cause of illusive problems through packet capture analysis.Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP including the ability to provide insightful analysis based on packet captures.Expert understanding of popular network communications protocols such as DNS, RPC, HTTP etceteraExpert understanding of Ethernet and the surrounding technology such as Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1w, 802.1d), G.8032, GR3 redundancies Understanding of RIP and OSPF as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience.Understanding of MPLS networks and Layer3 VPNs (RFC 2574bis)Travel - 15%
Preferred Qualifications:
MEF-CECP Cisco Optical Specialist

Education and Experience:
Bachelor ' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
