Job Summary The University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) is one of the three campuses of the University of Michigan system. UM-Dearborn is a comprehensive university offering high-quality undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education to residents of southeastern Michigan, and it attracts more than 8,500 students. Job Description:

The College of Education, Health and Human Services (CEHHS) invites applications for the position of Instructional Learning Assistant. The chosen candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and staff in the production and coordination of both on-the-ground and online courses and supplemental course materials. Specific responsibilities include: providing technical support (hardware and software) for course labs, maintaining online learning equipment, supporting online course management, and maintaining audio-visual equipment. Additionally the incumbent will be responsible for managing and performing website development, editorial activities including gathering and researching information that enhances the value of the site.

Responsibilities*

Job Duties:

- Provide support and training with creating courses, uploading media and text files, uploading various forms of content to students, faculty, and staff users of Canvas and Mportfolio

- Provide updates to content and graphics of the CEHHS website

- Provide training and assistance to faculty, staff and students with operating various software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Camtasia, SharePoint, Acrobat and Typo 3

- Provide support and training for instructional equipment (i.e. iPads, Smartboards, and the large format printer)

- Compile and analyze data using Excel and other software for CEHHS Administrators

- Serve on various committees such as the CEHHS Technology Committee and the UM-Dearborn Portfolio Learning Committee

- Work on special projects such as institutional research and evaluations within CEHHS

Required Qualifications* Required qualifications:

- Bachelor degree in appropriate discipline (Computer Science, Instructional Design,Instructional Technology or related field)

- 1-2 years experience in production management, web page design, HTML, and web graphics

- Strong knowledge in the area of multimedia support, instructional design, and media classroom support

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating system

- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

- Ability to operate audio visual equipment

- Ability to work independently, with strong organizing and prioritizing skills

Desired qualifications:

- Ability to establish working relationships and collaborations with faculty, administrators, and staff preferred

- Ability to evaluate existing processes and services and uses creativity to improve upon them desired

- Experience working in a higher education distant learning setting

- Experience working with Canvas, Typo 3, Access, Camtasia, and SharePoint strongly desired

- - Experience working with adult learners and training individuals and groups to learnvarious software programs strongly desired
