For over 50 years, Afton Alps has delighted the Twin Cities’ families as one of the Midwest’s premier winter destinations. Nestled in the scenic St. Croix River Valley just outside Minneapolis and St. Paul, this sprawling resort is re-imagining the guest experience with renovated base area facilities, a powerful state-of-the-art snowmaking system and a new cutting edge terrain park.

Purpose/Objective

To welcome guest to Afton Alps and provide information about programs and services offered at the resort. Seek out guest contact and proactively engage our guests.

Description

Looking for a position that will put you in all areas of the resort? Passionate about helping guest and employees have a fun and safe time? Affectionately referred to as “yellow jackets,” Mountain Host is the department for you.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome all guests at assigned stations and while riding on the mountain.
  • Be informed and proactively provide guests with a variety of information, describing and explaining events, programs and services to guests.
  • Maintaining park lots; parking assistance, placing cones, ropes, and packing or shoveling snow.
  • Enforcing the Skier Responsibility Code and Resort policies with guest and employees including revocation of lift tickets or passes and instructing guest and employees on appropriate behavior.
  • Provide directions and escort guests when necessary.
  • Scheduling includes the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Assist in general resort clean up.
  • Lifting equipment which may include signage, padding, and fencing.


Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older - Required
  • Ability to work outdoor in all weather conditions for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand in one area for longs periods of time.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard all day.
  • Must exhibit ski or snowboard ability, of intermediate or better; required.
  • Able to communicate clearly and comfortably with a variety of different types on guest.
  • Outdoor enthusiast.
