The OptumCare National Vice President of Managed Care Operations will be the senior executive responsible for strategic development and overall management of the infrastructure underlying all managed care activities required to execute risk- and value-based reimbursement arrangements for OptumCare's growing network of employed and contracted physicians. This will include responsibility for the following key functions:    
     
Primary Responsibilities:    

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with OptumCare's local market operations leadership; physician executives; national OptumCare clinical, network and other operations leaders; and Optum shared services partners. The position will direct the work of his/her staff, anticipate and resolve problems, and contribute to strategy and decision making as a key member of the care delivery operations leadership team. Maintaining excellent interpersonal relations with physicians, staff and colleagues; delivering through strong collaboration and influence in a highly matrixed organization; and comfortably leading and executing in an ambiguous, high-growth environment are critical to this position
Partner with the Optum Shared Services organization to drive LCD managed care risk management business requirements, oversee performance and agree on evolutionary tactics.  Shared Services consist of claims operations, member and provider services, and related managed care operations
Grow shared service opportunities and will require partnering with OptumInsight to understand the needs of other Optum customers to allow operations to be leveraged for multiple organizations
Participate in the evaluation of acquisition targets and work closely with the New Market Implementation team to coordinate integration of newly developed or acquired organizations into the organization's common infrastructure and will partner with corporate wide vendor management and procurement optimization initiatives including identifying and scoping opportunities to combine purchasing across LCDOs, and more broadly across Optum to leverage Optum spend to achieve lower costs
Report to the Senior Vice President of OptumCare 
   

Requirements

Required Qualifications:     

Bachelor's degree in business, health care, or related field equivalent experience
Ability to travel 25% and the ability to work a flexible schedule in order to meet with practices and corporate teams
Seasoned leader with executive presence
10+ years of demonstrated progressive accomplishment in planning, managing and implementing large-scale operations initiatives for a health care delivery or managed care organization
Strong understanding of the various types of provider risk arrangements ranging from Fee-for-service to Global Capitation
Strong understanding of delivery system/IPA and/or managed care operations
Can communicate a vision within a large corporate environment ensuring business, physician and technology leaders understand opportunities, risks, and strategic positioning
Creates and implements plans to achieve strategic objectives
Maintains a strong results-orientation in building credibility by regularly demonstrating and providing value
Ability to listen, gather, and measure results and feedback to afford continuous improvement yielding ever sustainable and improved onboarding and integration of clinics and staff
Demonstrated ability to deliver in a large, matrixed organization and gain support for initiatives through influence and use of business rationale
Works both as a leader of staff, a member of a team and, when appropriate, as an independent contributor, with minimal guidance
Quickly engages with new leaders and staff infusing a sense of belonging, contribution, and value
Encourages teamwork and manages individual and organizational performance towards business goals and objectives
Demonstrates strong professionalism and reacts well under pressure and stressful circumstances
Exercises sound judgment and discretion in decision making
Possesses organizational proficiencies to multi-task with multiple initiatives simultaneously and work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with excellent follow-through

Responsible risk-taker with a high degree of creativity
Preferred Qualifications:     

Master's degree  
Prior IPA and medical group management experience
