The position of a Security Officer reports into the Asset Protection Department of American Apparel and is to assure the physical security of buildings and grounds, protect all employees, customers, visitors or others having legitimate business on company property from physical harm or loss of personal property. Assist with the protection of the company's assets from theft, damage or misuse of material and monitor employee parking areas. Respond to emergency situations and establish effective perimeter control, crime scene management, and liaison with Asset Protection management. Proactively identify and resolve issues that pose a potential risk to facility operations. Mature judgment, sound reasoning and interpersonal skills are essential for the position. Answer phones, communicate through e-mail, respond to alarms and other situations, and monitor CCTV system. Maintain a courteous and diplomatic manner in communicating with employees, visitors, customers and vendors. This position requires an open schedule and active participation in all security shifts. Requirements: One (1) year experience as a Security Officer involving extensive public contact or combination of this experience and/or military security experience or retail security experience is applicable. Multi-language speaking candidate is preferred but not required What will the position be doing? As a Security Officer, you would be responsible for ensuring the safety of guests and team members and the security of the assigned facility and property. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: Patrol the exterior and interior of the assigned facility to guard and protect the physical security, identify potential safety hazards, security risks and undesirable conditions. This will require routine inspections of perimeter doors, elevators, offices, employee parking areas and will involve extensive walking. Respond to emergency situations including, but not limited to, property disruption, vehicle accidents, safety hazards, fire department response, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property. Promote safe work practices through an active involvement with the Health & Safety Team. Initiates preliminary investigations into incidents, property and vehicle damage, inventory loss concerns. Writes reports and ensures accuracy of necessary documentation, as needed. Respond to employee and visitor inquiries & requests and resolves them in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. Monitor CCTV equipment on a frequent basis to ensure the property and employees are safely working with no operational disruptions.
