"The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing care consistent with the goals and philosophy of Ponca City Medical Center. The CNA is responsible for assisting in the care of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse. The CNA will deliver quality care by offering excellent customer service. All employees participate within a team centered approach towards patient care. The CNA must possess exceptional communication skills and critical thinking skills. General responsibilities include: collaboration with the RN and LPN regarding patient care, completing assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner, holistic care involving patient families, and display proficiency in their respective computer documentation system. CNA's may participate in the care of the patient from newborn to geriatrics. Occasional assignments outside the department may be required. Employees must observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding person, financial, medical, or employment of patients, families, and employees of Alliance Health Ponca City. Employees must also follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients, families, and employees at Alliance Health Ponca City; they must report hazards and initiate appropriate action; they must participate in safety instructional programs. " Education: Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and exhibit proficiency in nursing assistant care and oral communication skills. Experience: Desirable characteristics include at least one year of experience as a CNA preferably in the area of application. Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards under the supervision of an RN or LPN. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Skills: PC skills or applicable computer experience. Licenses/Certifications: Oklahoma Certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Current certification in BLS. Must maintain any other requirements for each specific department. Must complete required departmental competencies and maintain through annual review.
