About this job

Stonington Institute began serving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Our main campus is located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful rural setting. We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT. Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment (both day and evening) and ambulatory detoxification, as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military servicemembers. The Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.

The Medical Assistant supervises the unit to ensure the safety and security of the environment for clients, staff, and visitors. Medical assistants take client vital signs, coordinate medical and psychiatric appointments, manage the medication orders procedure, and serve as liaison with the pharmacy. They complete paperwork in association with lab work, conduct telephonic admissions screenings, assist with admissions and client searches, and obtain precerts by phone. They are accountable for client location at all times, and ensure clients follow posted schedule for mealtimes, groups, etc.

Full-time, part-time, and per diem positions available, primarily 2nd and 3rd shifts. We are a 24/7 facility so weekend shifts are likely.

High School Diploma required. Experience in social services, residential treatment, and/or custodial supervision desired. Good verbal communication skills are required must be computer literate and able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
