THE JOB
The Prepared Foods Field Merchandiser will be the in-store trainer for prepared foods, bakery, beverage bar and cheese programs.  This position will spend the majority of their time focused on Store support, associate training, plus additional culinary project development.  A successful candidate must be versatile, self-motivated and driven with a desire to teach others what they know and have learned in the food service industry. They must be experienced in a broad range of retail skill sets including cooking, merchandising and financial knowledge. Priorities in this position include but are not limited to ensuring stores are taught and given all tools necessary to be successful and ensure programs are executed and exceed company standards.  The Field Merchandiser will be an active participant in the prepared Fods Merchandiser team.
 
 
 
THE SKILLS THAT ARE NEEDED.
 
  • Roll up sleeves and maintain a highly visible store presence
  • Be a part of developing and maintaining training tools that are up to date, user friendly, and actively utilized by prepared foods associates. 
  • Help to identify and troubleshoot margin and labor problems and provide analytical support and expertise as necessary.
  • Work with individual stores to improve merchandising of Prepared Foods departments (bakery, cheese, deli beverage bar).
  • Work with Prepared Foods Director as well as store Managers on ongoing projects.
  • Assist on R&D of new concepts.
  • Participate in new store openings, training of associates, department setup and follow up to ensure team and stores are given tools to be successful.
  • Establish and maintain the highest possible quality standards and deliver stellar customer service.
  • Assists in the hiring and training of department level leadership; managers.
  • Assists in special projects as defined by their Director of Prepared Foods.

THE EXPERIENCES
Natural/organic grocery management experience preferred.
Product knowledge required. 
Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
Strong financial analysis skills.
Strong decision-making, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Ability to multi-task and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
Must have prior experience with product purchasing, negotiating, financial analysis, and inventory control. 
Previous P&L management required.
Previous experience with planogram execution required.
Culinary training or multiple years in restaurant/food retail experience required.
Proficient using MS Office, Excel, database and word processing programs.
