As Aaron's Government Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for government affairs covering all lines of business. The Government Affairs Manager develops and implements the legislative tactics and strategies with respect to federal and/or state issues affecting the company. Manages the representation of the organization on legislation at the state and/or federal levels. Some travel is required. Job Duties Build relationships with federal, state and local elected officials and policymakers. Develop government affairs strategies. Manage lobbyists and consultants. Represent the company at public hearings and public meetings. Develop and enhance community relations and outreach activities. Coordinate outreach with key stakeholders. Provide updates to executive team and other company associates. Help develop and implement PAC strategy. Track and analyze proposed regulation and legislation. Develop and implement legislative, grass roots and political plans of engagement. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. 3-5 years of related experience – either in government or in corporate government relations position. A thorough understanding of legislative processes; a proven track record of advocacy; and current relationships with elected officials and policy makers. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team and to build and maintain internal and external partnerships. Must be a self-starter. Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, and maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
