I. Job Summary

Driver safely operates a heavy-duty truck and is responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting large intermodal containers from the intermodal rail facility to landfill working face. Rail Truck Drivers will operate in off road conditions and may operate in tight overhead environments. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential, to successfully perform this job. Coordinates movement of materials with rail foreman and Landfill Operations.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.

Operates vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules. OSHA. (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and all local, municipal, state, and federal laws.

Positions and / or returns intermodal containers on the rail/truck in a manner that ensures container is safe and secure.

Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).

Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service related issues to Manager or Supervisor.

Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings required by Waste Management or Facility Manager.

Works closely with Facility Managers to improve efficiencies and identify best practices.

Notifies Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.

Notifies Manager of operational issues or potential safety hazards.

Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement

Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas.

Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether two-way radio or face to face.

Performs all duties as scheduled by Manager.

A. Education and Experience

Education: Not required.

Experience: One year of relevant work experience operating a truck or military driving within the last seven years

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Must be at least 21 years of age

Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle record review.
