Specifically, your role falls within the Tool Rental area of IT, encompassing applications and processes that support how The Home Depot interacts with our customers, such as contractors and remodelers.  The Home Depot offers a range of tools to these customers.  You will be exposed to the latest technologies running at large, enterprise scale. You will work with business partners to understand our strategic Tool Rental initiatives.

The Senior Developer will be responsible for leading medium to large projects. The candidate must have a strong and detailed understanding of each task on a large and complex project, and the ability to present status and strategy to project and executive leadership. The candidate must have an excellent understanding of the IT project life cycle, trends in the IT landscape and be able to influence IT leadership on streamlining those processes. The Senior Developer must be able to guide project teams using Agile SCRUM methodology from sprint planning to release planning. Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work.

The Senior Developer must have and be able to promote an appropriate sense of urgency in regard to deliverables, and be able to effectively partner with the team and the business to develop and deliver IT solutions.   In addition, the candidate will be responsible for guiding the work produced by more junior developers and contract developers including code reviews.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects.

Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.

Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary.

Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.

Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.

NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology

Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
Key hands on functional and technical skills:
•Java development with focus on web development (JSP, Servlet, JMS, JSON)
•Understanding of standard web frameworks and languages (HTML5, CSS, JQuery, AJAX)
•Knowledge of standard web service development frameworks and methodologies (DAO, RESTFul, SSL)
•Experience in Agile/XP methodologies is required
•Mobile development experience a plus - best practices, building responsive pages, converting browser-based apps to mobile apps
•Ability and desire to learn new technologies
•Must be able to use different forms of communication to delivery message to different groups of people
•Skilled at building positive relationships with team members and matrix teams
•Ability at leading and facilitating meetings

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Ability to communicate issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner to Management.

Strong decision making abilities.

Experience developing new application systems for production.
