The Department of State Hospitals, Metropolitan State Hospital is currently accepting applications for permanent full-time Warehouse Worker located at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk. Working Title : WW-GS-1512

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under direction of the department of General Services/Main Warehouse, we are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill this position. The department is seeking a knowledgeable self-starter to perform a variety of warehouse duties such as, loading trucks, sorting/store supplies, taking inventory, prepare documentation. Candidates should have knowledge of modern warehousing methods, read and write English at a level required for successful job performance. Typical tasks include: loads/unloads trucks, freight cars, or other common carriers and transports material to specified areas either by hand or by use of powered or non-powered materials handling equipment, assists in the receiving, unpacking, and checking of incoming material against invoices or bills of lading to verify items and quantities received, palletizes, tags, and moves material to designated locations, stocks and restocks shelves, bins or other storage facilities, pulls, re-palletizes, and assists in the preparation of material for local issue or shipment, selects specified items and assembles material in shipping bays, maintains simple records, keeps floors and storage areas clean and orderly, as assigned, may occasionally operate motor vehicles. Note: Experienced candidates who are knowledgeable in this area are highly desirable.

Employees applying for this position who wish to be considered on a transfer basis must meet the minimum qualifications for the classification per DPA Rule 250. You may be required to provide copies of your Training and Development Assignment or out-of-class experience (approved and documented in your department's personnel office), college transcripts or a copy of your college diploma if applicable.
