Under the direction of the Supervising Investigator I, the Inspector II conducts independent inspections to assure compliance with provisions of all state laws and regulations applicable to dentistry. The Inspector II also assists with monitoring probationers' compliance with the requirements set forth in disciplinary orders. The incumbent may be required to travel regularly throughout assigned geographic areas. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: Plan, organize and perform the work of inspecting dental offices for compliance with the law. Confirm inspected dental facilities are in compliance with infection control guidelines based on enforcement of Business and Professions Code Section 1680 (dd) and regulations of the Department of Health Services and CAL OSHA. Maintain a caseload representing dental facilities requiring monitoring and inspection activities and tracks the activity by using the Consumer Affairs System (CAS) computer system and the Board's Investigative Activity Reporting System (IAR). Verify the license of licentiates is current and valid and that additional office, fictitious name, corporation, sedation, and anesthesia permits are current and valid by researching the CAS computer system. Verify the office address of record with the Board is accurate and current by researching the CAS computer system. Communicate and work in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies regarding related inspection programs. Issue administrative warnings or citations to dentists and/or licensed dental auxiliaries for observed violations. Gather evidence for use and assistance in hearings and prosecutions. Verify dentistry advertisements are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations of the Dental Practice Act. Verify the dental auxiliary duty information is publicly posted in the dental office. Testify as expert witness in formal administrative cases. Review the final legal decision from the administrative action placing the licensee on probation, identify the terms and conditions which must be met during the probationary period and the timeframes for completion. Meet with the probationer for an initial intake and reviews each of the terms and conditions to ensure they understand what is required during the period of probation. Interpret and explain laws, rules, regulations and policies to the licensee/probationer. Retrieve and evaluate the documentation produced by the probationer and required as a condition of probation (i.e., quarterly declarations, practice monitor reports, chaperone logs and notifications made to patients regarding limits on practice), review and independently validate the accuracy of information reported by probationer. Prepare concise, detailed reports after the intake interview with the probationer and each quarter thereafter relaying the progress of licensee's compliance with the terms and condition of probation, prepare reports of non-compliance when a licensee fails to comply with a term of probation which is used to generate a field investigation, or referral to the Attorney General's (AG) office for further administrative action.

Background Check Requirements: Title 11, section 703D California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).
