Job Summary: The position supports and implements the PAMF Safety Program to promote employee, physician and patient safety and maintain safety and environmental regulatory compliance.

For assigned area, uses competent skills and understanding to interpret, apply and monitor PAMF EH&S Program guidelines, regulatory codes or standards, to conduct thorough workplace hazard assessments, safety rounds, audits and program reviews focused on healthcare safety and injury prevention. Prepares written reports to document findings and does follow-up to make sure finding action items are completed.

For assigned area, coordinates and conducts rounds, quarterly emergency drills, safety ambassadors and Safety Committee meetings and participates with local agencies in worked related activities.

Provides accurate, organized and effective safety training on various topics to PAMF or non-PAMF management and employees

Serves as liaison, educator and resource person with PAMF managers, supervisors, employees, and regulatory personnel pertaining to safety permits and inspections, installation or removal equipment and processes of hazardous and non-hazardous items.

Conducts staff respirator fit testing, workplace exposure monitoring and other field safety assessments for various environmental agents

Conducts/updates annual inventory of hazardous materials and wastes, lasers for assigned sites and inputs findings into MDSD program, Hazardous Material Business Plan, permits, or other documents.

Works with and supports EH&S. staff, assumes additional responsibilities as necessary; adheres to PAMF policies/procedures, business standards and practices.

REQUIRED :

Bachelor's degree in Safety Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline or 4 years health and safety or related experience and with formal safety training education.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities:

Technical and working knowledge of recognized health and safety codes or standards:

OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, AGCIH, ANSI (as examples).

Valid drivers license

Excellent problem solving abilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong organizational aptitude

Strong computer skills

Strong coaching, planning, training and presentation skills

Knowledge of insurance, billing, reimbursement and associated computer systems for coordination and reporting.

PREFERRED : Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS

75% field related activity and 25% office/administrative related activity

Position requires walking, standing and sitting throughout the workday.
