Overview:
This highly visible position will be responsible for managing Athleta’s store payroll expenses, one of the largest line items on the Athleta Stores P&L. This position will frequently interact with the VP of Store Operations and the field leadership team, and will play a critical part in ensuring one of Gap Inc.’s emerging brands continues to successfully grow.
  • Effectively manage store payroll for the Athleta fleet including the development and communication of labor forecasts to field leadership and to internal finance business partners.
  • Develop the annual budget and long range plans for store payroll in partnership with store operations, ensuring that they incorporate and support Athleta’s strategic priorities.
  • Develop the strategy and provide the required analytical support to recommend new/different ways of managing labor in a constantly changing business environment.
  • Partner with various business partners to support, analyze and pilot various labor related initiatives (e.g. census (headcount) changes, part-time/full time guidelines, etc.)
  • Identify key drivers of payroll variability and proactively investigate and develop recommendations to mitigate risk or capture opportunities.

  • Team player with a positive attitude - open to cross-training and sharing team responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface with and influence all levels of management
  • Ability to articulate financial concepts to non-finance business partners in a clear and concise manner


Job Requirements

  • 3 years of financial analysis experience or related equivalent
  • Bachelors degree in Finance or related field, MBA a plus
  • Must have the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into a cohesive framework
  • Knowledge of Oracle financial systems and Essbase/Hyperion is a plus
  • Experience with a large consumer products retail company preferred
  • Must be able to share time between Athleta’s Petaluma and San Francisco offices
