General Summary

This position is responsible for supervising the stockroom and for unloading trucks and distributing merchandise to the appropriate areas to ensure an efficient flow of goods through the stockroom. This position will be the Lead Associate in the Stockroom and is solely responsible for daily stockroom productivity and effectiveness. The Stockroom Lead is also responsible for maintaining the shoes and maternity departments.

Responsibilities


1. Examine the truck seal and record the serial number. Move the dock plate into place. Manually unload the trailer using a pallet jack.
2. Move pallets of merchandise to the appropriate staging area in the stockroom for additional handling by department sales associates.
3. Use a broom to sweep the trailer clean. Empty pallets, hanger boxes and merchandise for return to the Distribution Center are loaded on the trailer using the pallet jack and the trailer is then resealed.
4. Manually complete the necessary paperwork such as shipping manifests, shipping tally, transfer sheets, etc., in a legible manner.
5. Keep the stockroom effective, organized, clean and free of trash. Vendor boxes are compacted and reusable Distribution Center boxes are broken down, flattened, stacked on a pallet, secured and returned on an empty trailer.
6. Maintain merchandise fixtures. Assemble, disassemble, move and store merchandise fixtures and parts.
7. Manage annual physical inventory process.
8. Responsible for shoes and maternity departments.
9. Follow company policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
10. Must be at work on a regular and predictable basis or as scheduled. All Management staff and Leads are required to close a minimum of one evening shift per week. They are also required to work one shift per weekend OR both days every other weekend (this is determined by the Store Manager).
11. Open Availability -- When business needs dictate it, Management and Leads must be flexible in terms of working hours and/or work schedule in order to manage the organization’s workflow (this includes nights and weekends).
12. Perform safety inspections of the building.
13. Perform minor repair work and building maintenance.
14. Order supplies as needed.
15. Perform other related job duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Education and Qualifications


1. Must be at least 18 years of age for this position, due to the possibility of operating heavy machinery (i.e. a forklift or trash compactor).
2. Ability to sufficiently understand the English language in order to communicate with individuals at all levels in the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner. Ability to read price tag information; ability to sufficiently comprehend English language to read guest checks, guest identification, and similar written materials.
3. Sufficient physical strength and agility in order to climb ladders, operate a pallet jack, and move boxes of merchandise weighing up to 75 pounds.
4. Visual ability to see fixtures and objects on the floor up to 10 yards away.
5. Sufficient manual dexterity in at least one hand to be able to operate a pallet jack, use hand tools and manually complete required paperwork.
6. Ability to stand continuously and perform essential job functions for up to an eight and one-half hour shift, with two fifteen-minute breaks and one-half hour meal break.
7. Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision within two weeks after beginning work.
8. High school education required.
9. Previous retail or stockroom experience desired.
