Job Description:
The Network Engineer (NE) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise network systems. As an Engineer, you will have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running smoothly and securely.
Preferred candidates have a strong commitment to continually learn and a desire to engineer the network such that traditional operational issues are minimized.

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:
Design, build, and administer corporate local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
Develop deployment plans and create supporting documentation for the engineering and operation of enterprise network systems.
Lead network design discussions and reviews.
Implement monitoring solutions to provide visibility on the availability, performance, and trending of the network systems.
Be a member of the on-call rotation helping with monitoring, problem identification, escalations, and notifications related to all production network and security systems and services.
Mentor network security analysts and administrators.

Primary Work Arrangements:
This role reports directly to the Manager of Network Engineering.
This position works closely with members of the Infrastructure & Operations Team, the Network and Security Operations Team, and other members of the Network Engineering Team.
This role will collaborate with business constituents, other team members,
Project teams and IT staff as needed to fulfill the responsibilities described above.

Education and Training
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Minimum of five years experience supporting an enterprise network.

Certifications in one or more of the following: CISSP, CWSP, CCNP, ACE, CCNP, or related.

Required Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of corporate LAN and WAN data networks, and supporting component features, services, and technologies. e.g., bandwidth, authentication, authorization, prioritization, voice, video, WANs, LANs, VLANs, wired access, wireless
access (WiFi, cellular), 802.1x, etc.

In-depth knowledge of VPN technologies.
Professional level understanding of routing and switching technologies.
Ability to configure and troubleshoot Cisco ASA firewalls.
Working knowledge of Cisco ACS servers.
Experience configuring and supporting Palo Alto firewalls, Sourcefire IPS or related IPS equipment is a plus.
Foundational understanding of systems administration (Linux/Windows) and scripted languages (Python, Perl, or related) are an added benefit.
Comfortable analyzing packet captures.
Ability to troubleshoot difficult hardware, and software problems.
