Do you have a love for science? Do you enjoy spending time with kids? Want to do cool experiments that teach kids about outer space, nature, biology, engineering, technology, physics, and more?

Then you might be a future Mad Scientist!

Mad Science of Mount Diablo is based in Concord. We are looking for 10 new enthusiastic teachers to bring our programs to children in any of the following locations: Contra Costa County, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, Northern Alameda County, Oakland, Alameda, Marin County, Sonoma County, Napa County, and San Francisco.

Our mission is to spark the imagination and curiosity of children by creating an environment where they can experience fun science demonstrations and hands-on activities.

Instructors work on a part time basis. Compensation starts at $20 and based on experience. Pay is per one hour class you teach. Thorough (paid) training sessions and manuals to guide you through each lesson. Pre-prepped kits including all materials needed for each lesson.

Opportunities for advancement.

An ideal candidate for a Mad Scientist position can display the following skills and characteristics:
- An outgoing and enthusiastic personality with a "can do" attitude
- Are available a minimum of 2 afternoons per week between 1:00 - 4:00pm.
- Ability to lift at least 35 pounds
- Emphasizes and displays safety when working with equipment
- Able to maintain professionalism with coworkers, clients, and students
- Unrestricted access to a reliable vehicle
- Willingness to drive to various Bay Area locations including our Concord office
- Effective communication skills

Instructors may be assigned to after-school programs, preschool programs, in-class workshops, camps, special events, or birthday parties.

Our instructors do not need teaching credentials and will be trained by our staff. You must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and should ideally have some college level science experience.

Perhaps you are a student looking for flexible part-time work while you finish school. Maybe you are a retired teacher whose passion for teaching still burns strong. You might find yourself as a substitute teacher looking for another avenue to continue teaching. Possibly you are considering a career in education and are looking for more classroom experience.
