POSITION PURPOSE -
The Cash and Receivables Manager is part of a larger team responsible for reconciling depository and disbursement bank accounts, recording accounting entries related to rebate and coop, cash application, invoicing and unclaimed property. The position is responsible for signing off on SOX controls, reviewing reconciliations to ensure compliance with the ARC policy and supporting external audit requirements.

Oversees the daily reconciliation and balancing of accounts, reports and prepares feedback for management which includes store deposit and cash accounts, charge-backs, collection / days outstanding, recovery, co-op and rebate responsibilities. Responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to improve financial performance, efficiency, and effectiveness within the department. With strategic partnership, supports various areas of the business, such as Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, Store Operations, and Information Technology.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
  • Motivates people to give their best effort by setting realistic expectations, coaches and communicates performance expectations regularly, offers recognition, and holds people accountable. Builds a strong staff by pushing down authority to capable associates, seeks to empower, and delegates responsibility whenever possible. Responsible for staff selection, termination, performance appraisal, and professional development
  • Develops and supports a strategic alliance with business partners. Participates in cross-functional activities focused on solving business issues and enhancing our competitive advantage. Facilitates cross-functional communication with other areas of the business including but not limited to Payables, Payroll, Treasury & Tax, as well as Merchandising, Operations, Customer Care, and IT
  • Evaluates existing procedures to identify deficiencies; challenges the structure of existing accounts; proposes new ways to work across various functions; drives process enhancement, remediation, and control; designs and documents process detail; attends meetings for new business transactions; holds self and others accountable to ensure proper procedures and controls
  • Develops strategy to determine types of projects and resources required for projects. Manages and balances resources, time-lines, and scope/objectives of all projects within the specified functions. Reviews and coordinates high-level project plans
NATURE AND SCOPE -
  • Typically reports to Sr. Manager Cash/Receivables/Credit
  • Accounting Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must pass the Drug Test.
  • Must pass the Background Check.
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.


EDUCATION REQUIRED -

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
-

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

  • Master’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • A robust but diverse finance background that could include experience in credit settlement
  • Solid 5+ years of accounting experience across various industries

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -

  • Finance & accounting knowledge. Must demonstrate a solid understanding of general accounting procedures as well as audit and controls; ability to manipulate sub ledger systems (Access, etc )
  • People management & supervisory skills. Must demonstrate ability to effectively manage self and others in various situations; must possess strong interpersonal skills and affect change within and outside group
  • Analytical thinking ability. Must demonstrate strong critical thinking skills to identify approach, strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions; ability to demonstrate broad, technical (acct.) skills
  • Organizational skills. Must demonstrate ability to successfully manage projects methodically under stressful situations; process-focused identifying issues, developing solutions, introducing resolutions
  • Communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with management and personnel at all levels within the organization; ability to effectively build partnerships and drive results
