The Vice President is the leader of Optum's Consumer Solutions Group (CSG) team of cross-market, enterprise-wide solutioning leaders. This leader will direct and manage integrated solutions for a variety of client types and health management needs across all Optum channels (Employer, Payer, Provider & Government).  The Solutioning team develops cutting-edge and innovative solutions and packages CSG solutions holistically across all channels and markets. This team works collaboratively with Optum's Growth Office and the business solution teams to architect and propose comprehensive and cross - P&L solutions by client function (e.g., Engagement, Clinical, Administrative) that represent the breadth of Optum. 
  
This leader will understand the entire Optum portfolio and speak to integrated solutions for a variety of client types and health management needs across all Optum channels (Employer, Payer, Provider and Government). The VP will establish key, senior-level partnerships with Optum's Consumer Solutions Group (CSG) product leaders and matrix partners within Optum and UnitedHealthcare. This individual will leverage these relationships to provide strategic health management insight and thought leadership and diagnose the greatest challenges. 
  
This executive leader role requires experience in architecting, designing and implementing relevant and sustainable, large-scale, health-system focused enterprise solutions concentrated on business-wide applications such as systems and portals, business intelligence and data warehousing. These solutions can then be applied both up and down market. 
  
The VP is responsible for the team that engages with both prospects and existing clients to integrate scalable solutions and ensures implementation and quality assurance based on current industry best practices and leading methodologies. This individual should have a proven track record in a highly matrixed and complex working environment with a track record of successful relationship building. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery of a broad set of IT tools, including in-depth architecture expertise in multiple application health system platforms and a thorough understanding of healthcare systems and infrastructure. 
  
Primary Responsibilities: 

Develops deep relationships with client executives (C-suite and decision makers) to holistically define their health management objectives. Leads the team that integrates Optum's capabilities to design solutions around those needs
Serves as primary liaison among Optum, UHC and CSG Product owners. Provides strategic insight, solution development, product usage optimization plans and project management on the client's behalf
Coordinate on behalf of Solutioning team with the Optum Growth Office to propose solutions that meet varied channel needs
Understands the client's unique business environment and challenges, incorporating those into solution development
Proactively identifies higher order customer needs and fit with portfolio of Optum capabilities, helping to evolve the Optum portfolio in innovative ways: market makers, not order takers. Translates customer needs to Optum Product leaders, and provide business requirements to offer innovative, market-relevant products
Solution-based engagement with clients and successful relationship management at both a client and Optum level. Engages with sales, consulting and the business units to drive solutions to successful execution
Collaborates with clients to provide strategic health management insight and thought leadership and diagnose the greatest challenges. Engages the client or prospect in complex solutioning with a focus on driving value, growth and financial return
Designs and develop solutions that provide clients with secure, robust and scalable solutions, taking into account user requirements, technical requirements, etc. (e.g., solution architecture) and ensuring the architectural integrity of the solutions
Responsible for integration and management of early stage product 'bundles' (to be handed off to Product teams once they are mature)
Verifies and ensures the team understands the client's strategic objectives and the initiatives that support the strategy. Partners with both internal and external delivery teams to ensure client expectations of service and execution are clearly defined, understood, communicated and met. Provides input to relevant Optum colleagues responsible for solution delivery 

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree
10+ years' successful experience in a healthcare environment
5+ years' experience in driving deep, productive relationships with C-Suite and senior-level client executives
10+ years' overall technical and business experience
Demonstrated leadership of highly-skilled, professional teams
Proven track record of operating and navigating in a highly-complex, matrix environment
Demonstrated experience developing large-scale, enterprise wide solutions
Strong executive presence
Expertise in using competitive intelligence, market research and voice of the customer data to drive strategic product plans
Experience in working directly with customers, consumers and/or broker/consultants to assess requirements and share insights/new developments
Strong leadership, communication and negotiations skills
Demonstrated success meeting and driving goals/targets
Ability to provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to ensure successful outcomes
Ability to travel 40-50%
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA)
Prior consulting or professional services background
Strong networks within Optum and UnitedHealthcare
Understanding of key products and services in the Optum Consumer Solutions Group (CSG) portfolio
