What and where is this job?

This is a job in our Service Center located at 610 Phoenix Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Our service center is open seven days a week and, at the holiday, and in December 24 hours a day. It is where we answer the phone calls and emails from our customers. (We also have jobs in our warehouse at the same address where we pick and pack boxes soon.) Our building is on the AATA bus route.

What does it take to get hired in our Service Center?

There are lots of things we are hoping to find in anyone who applies. (We've listed them below.) But there are three musts:

You can type at least 40 words per minute. It's not super fast, but it's not slow. We'll test you so if you need to practice go for it!
You know your way around a computer and the internet.
You can work at least one of these three shifts, the entire shift, at least 4 times per week:
Shift 1: 8am - 4pm
Shift 2: 4pm - Midnight
Shift 3: Midnight - 8am

What is the pay?

$10.50 per hour.

Are there any other perks?

Absolutely: Free meals and snacks, all breaks are paid, 25% discount on anything you buy, daily food training (and eating!).

Will I get full time work?

We aim to, but it depends. If you can work more shifts at different times of the day and week there's a great chance we can do so. If your schedule is more limited then it'll be harder to schedule you full time.

What does this job begin and end?

Work starts in October and November and ends on or around December 23, 2015.

Can I apply for full time work after the job ends?

Yes! We'll have a limited number of full time positions at Mail Order and elsewhere in the Zingerman's Community of Business after the holiday.

Sound like you?

Please apply, we'd be excited to meet you!

What's the hiring process like?

We don't have a typical interview for our holiday crew. Instead we have tests for skills, like typing, along with a very brief interview. We also invite you to sit in and listen to someone taking care of real live customers so you can see what it's like. We invite a group of applicants once or twice a week (that usually happens within days after you apply) and if you're hired you'll get your start date the same day you interview.
