This position is responsible for producing quality bagels and other products for service to guests under the direction of the General Manager, Assistant Manager and/or Shift Supervisor. This role delivers outstanding guest service to Bruegger’s Guest.

  • You must stand on your feet for long periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform some bending and lifting.
  • You must stand in front of a hot oven.

General Requirements

  • Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests, co-workers and management.

Job Responsibilities

The position of Baker is accountable, in all job duties and functions, to the General Manager with responsibilities to the Assistant Manager and/or Shift Supervisor of the bakery.

Safety and Sanitation: Ensures a safe and clean environment for team members and guests by:

  • Using correct procedures to clean the bakery, bake and slice bagels and operate bakery equipment.
  • Preventing accidents before they happen by identifying and correcting safety hazards.

Product Quality: Maintains Bruegger's standards for safety, security, cleanliness and sanitation while ensuring that enough quality product is available for each shift Guest Services and Relations: Delivers outstanding guest service that creates raving fans. Maintains an appropriate level of product at all times. Maintains Bruegger's standards of cleanliness, sanitation and safety. Demonstrates ability to increase guest satisfaction.

Training and Development: Leads by example and shares knowledge with new and existing team members. Completes Bruegger’s Baker Training and Certification Program and becomes certified.

Employee Relations: Supports and assists fellow team members whenever possible. Performs counter functions as needed.

Personnel Administration:

  • Ensures that applicable paperwork is up-to-date
  • Local Store Marketing Supports and follows all marketing programs. Adjusts bake levels to account for promotional periods.
  • Leadership Treats guests and team members with respect and courtesy. Demonstrates and models an understanding of and a belief in Bruegger’s mission statement.

Profitability: Controls product levels to minimize waste. Helps ensure that the financial budget is met in terms of baking cost of goods. Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
