Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Services Supervisor, the Food Service Tech II performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties, as well as other related tasks. Examples include: assembling patient trays according to prescribed diet, following correct food handling and safety procedures, assisting in dishroom and warewashing duties, preparation and delivery of between meal feedings, preparation of floorstock and strategic supply items, answering phones, utilizing department specific programs for patient meal service, functioning as a Nutrtion Services department representative in patient care areas, educating patients on meal processes, delivering meals, direct patient interaction, and any other duties as assigned. Will be cross-trained in multiple areas including retail and administrative. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy mission, values and Standards of Service.

Ensures food served is correct, attractive, and meets department standards.

Assists with call center responsibilities in diet office. Utilizes current departmental programs to provide accurate and expedient production of meals for patients.

Takes precautions to assure that food, utensils and equipment are properly cleaned according to department Policy & Procedures.

Performs cleaning duties according to department standards.

Completes all necessary documentation (such as temperature logs).

Assists in preparing salads, desserts and nourishments, as directed.

Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.

Observes infection control practices at all times.

Performs cleaning duties according to department standards.

Funtions in key role as a representative of Nutrition Services in direct patient care areas while educating patients on meal service procedures, assisting patients with the process, delivering meals to patient rooms and recovering meals after service times.

Effectively manages floorstock par levels in specific locations within patient care areas.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Education: *High school graduate or equivalent or current High School Student.

Licensure:

Experience: Food Service and/or Customer Service oriented experience preferred.

Certifications:

Other: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Interest in learning new skills and growth of your role in the department.
