The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for the oversight of the operation of the hotel and management and implementation of preventative maintenance programs. This includes the inside as well as the outside of the building, attending pre-convention meetings as a representative of the Engineering department, interaction with group meeting planners and resolving possible guest complaints or issues as it relates to the functions of the Engineering department. The Assistant Engineering Director is responsible for providing monthly department training for the Engineering department, file and program management of required training programs, scheduling and management of weekly payroll functions, associate performance reviews/evaluations, coaching and counseling, financial and inventory management is a function of this position. Flexibility and willingness to work as the demands of business dictates. Must be willing to relocate for future promotion opportunities. This person must be knowledgeable in HVAC, Refrigeration, and Electrical Engineering.
Must possess strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of the house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanicals, HVAC systems and using a windows based computer system. Ability to read blue prints and schematics is also required. A minimum of 5 years building maintenance experience is required, with hotel experience preferred. A strong working knowledge of all major building systems and life-safety systems is required. Strong leadership and communication skills are necessary. Must be a certified mechanic.
