POSITION PURPOSE -
Responsible for managing the collaborative strategies to implement the Foundation’s focus – addressing the housing rehabilitation needs of veterans. This includes developing program direction at a national and market-level, researching issue areas, assessing market conditions, assisting THD and THDF staff in partnering with the public and private sectors along with non-profit organizations to develop projects/programs, reviewing grant requests, negotiating grant contracts, evaluating programs, and publicly representing the Foundation.  Additionally is responsible for setting and monitoring the financial strategy and budget for the Foundation.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Evaluating grant proposals and identifying best practices
  • Developing long range strategies and maintain business plans for each focus area
  • Updating executive THD Divisional/Regional and Foundation staff on progress and status of each strategic grant category
  • Assisting nonprofits, public agencies and THD stores in working together on implementing strategies that address the housing rehabilitation needs of people with disabilities, seniors, and veterans
  • Serving as liaison between the Foundation, city government, nonprofits and THD stores involved in implementing housing rehabilitation strategies
  • Preparing and presenting key materials to the Foundation Management Board
  • Developing annual budget and providing strategic direction on ongoing financial impacts
  • Managing third party accountants and auditors to ensure complete and accurate financial records (P&L, Balance Sheet, Tax documents, etc.)

NATURE AND SCOPE - 
  • Reports to the Sr. Directtor of The Home Depot Foundation and is accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues – including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
-
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
EDUCATION REQUIRED - 
  • The knowledge skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 7 


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
 
  • Direct experience working with the public and private sectors in developing place-based community development strategies.
  • City Planning or managing Community Development for a local government a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 
  • 7 years experience in affordable housing/community development, grant making/evaluation and market analysis
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Website management skills.

  • Project management experience.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Extensive market analysis experience.
  • Best practices in affordable housing production/preservation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; willingness to be a team player
