Work From Home: Laramie, WY or Rock Springs, WY

Responsible for the day-to day Operations, Maintenance and Restoration of an assigned portion of our National fiber optic network.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Installation Operation and Maintenance of Optical Transport equipment ( Alcatel/Lucent, Infinera), Test and turn-up new circuits and responsible for cross-connects and circuit grooms, OSP Fiber cable splicing & restoration, Fiber cable locating and marking Maintenance of DC power plants including battery plants and generators Knowledgeable in basic HVAC systems. Knowledgeable in basic AC & DC power, AC switch gear Able to use various testing equipment such as; OTDR, Cable locating, Fusion splicer, Volt ohm meter & Optical circuit( 10G, 40G 100G) test equipment. Utilizes software and hardware to accurately locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities. Provide backup support for other technicians when needed. Interface with Transport, IP Engineering, Construction, NOCs and others supporting the National Networks.

Job Requirements Basic Requirements:

Telecommunication knowledge/experience and or Electrical Engineering knowledge/experience/education in any of the following areas: Outside Plant, Fiber fusion splicing, Fiber Locating, Optical Transport Networks, DC Power plants ( generators & battery plants), AC switch gear and HVAC systems. Be able to support operations and network disruptions caused during disaster situations which would include working a flexible work schedule on holidays, weekends and off hours. Reside within the geographical area of assigned responsibilities. Posses a valid state vehicle operator's license with a satisfactory driving record in accordance with applicable state law(s). Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to understand and communicate using technical concepts, practices and terminology. Available to be called after hours 7x24. Ability to self-manage responsibilities in order to achieve daily results. Able to obtain a government clearance to provide back-up support to government sites. Able to read and make update with as-built drawings and other Engineering documents. Able to work in confined spaces. Must be willing and able to work in an outside environment in various weather conditions OSP Cable splicing & fiber restoration which potentially will include hand digging by shovel to depths of 2-3 feet, pulling fiber optic cable on flat/uneven/hilly terrain for up to 1 mile, fusion splicing and lifting of various tool boxes & test equipment of up to 75lbs. Fiber locating and marking which will include carrying a locator of 15 lbs while walking & bending on flat/uneven/hilly terrain for potentially up to 2 miles.
