About this job
Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. (i.e., if you commit
to a weekend shift, these shifts may be 12 hour shifts or they may be 8 hour
shifts).
Job
Requirements/Eligibility
Must have a
minimum of one year of related work experience and be deemed competent. Must be able to
work on any unit within the assigned division. Option Plan employees may be offered the
opportunity to work outside of the assigned division in lieu of
cancellation.
Work Hours
Option
Plan employees have no routine or recurring hours of work and will be called
upon to fill vacant shifts in the hospital schedule after full-time and all
part-time employees have been scheduled.
You must notify the House Supervisor, Unit Director and/or designee of
your committed hours at least one week prior to the following four week
schedule. Additional hours may be
scheduled at any time by the employee in consultation with the Department
Manager or designee.
Option
Plan employees may have their shifts canceled.
Every attempt will be made to notify all staff prior to the start of the
scheduled shift. Adequate notice of
cancellation will be considered to have been given if a telephone call is made
by the Manager/Director or designee before the shift starting time. In the event that the phone is not answered
or a message is left on an answering machine, the notice of cancellation is
still valid. Calls will be made to the
contact phone number designated by the employee.
Compensation
Option
Plan employees are eligible for shift and weekend differential. Overtime will be paid at time and one-half of
hourly rate for all hours worked over forty in one week as required.
Resignation/Termination
If
employment in the TCMC Option Plan ends for any reason, the individual is not
eligible for re-employment in the Option Plan for a period of one-year from the
date of termination or disqualification.
TCMC Option Plan employees must give a minimum of four weeks notice
before requesting a change to decrease hours from their current Option Plan to
another Option Plan or any other change of status.
Acknowledgement
I understand
that I am subject to the same rules and regulations, policies and procedures
of the medical center as any other employee. This includes all policies concerning
performance expectations, attendance, training, licensing, competency
assessment and discipline. I understand
that I will be required to attend general orientation, clinical
orientation, department orientation, annual reorientation and competency
skill updates. I acknowledge
that I cannot be employed in any other capacity at or by Tennova; e.g.,
full-time, part-time or other PRN status.
Option Plan employees are also prohibited from taking on
assignments at Tennova as an employee of an outside staffing agency or in
any other capacity. I agree to work
the required days and hours specified above. If I do not work as agreed, I understand
that the Option Plan pay rate will go down or I could be terminated from
the Option Plan.
