Host/Hostess works as part of a team to ensure that IHR customers receive excellent customer service. S/he is responsible for: greeting and efficiently seating guests in a restaurant that is properly maintained; supervising all staff; and maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room. Requirements include: knowledge of restaurant operations, guest relations; written and verbal English language communication skills; the ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items; and the ability to effectively solve customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
This position requires a Pre-Hire Assessment as part of the application process. For best results we recommend you complete the assessment in one seating without any interruptions or distractions and therefore advise that you begin the application process when you can dedicate 20-30 minutes of uninterrupted time to apply for this opening.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Eighth grade language and math skills.

Prefer a minimum of 6 months previous Room Service experience.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Previous hotel experience preferred.

Food and Beverage service workers permit.

Ability to communicate effectively with the public and associates.

Read, write and speak English fluently.

Prior cash handling experience required.
1. Ensure all tables are properly set before seating guests. (20%)
2. Take orders by phone, for both room service and outside calls, following Marriott required order taking process. (15%)
3. Assist bartending staff as needed in facilitating orders, guest needs or operational procedures. (10%)
4. Clear and reset tables in assistance of the main server as required by business flow. (10%)
5. Maintain seating chart for rotation of stations. (5%)
6. Greet and seat guests properly and issue menus. (20%)
7. Answer phone properly and follow all reservation procedures. (10%)
8. Follow accurate cash handling and room charge procedures. (5%)
9. Organize and maintain a clean service podium. (3%)
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (2%)
1. Maintain an inventory of needed supplies.
2. Ensure all menus are clean before shift.
3. Be familiar with hotel facilities and their location and hours.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standing/walking constantly, up to four miles per day. Lifting/carrying frequently average weight 25 lbs, maximum weight 40 lbs. Twisting regularly. Reach, handle, finger, feel, talk, hear, see, smell and taste.
